Obituary for
Harold Robert Iverson
On Tuesday, June 13, 2017 Harold R. Iverson embarked on his new journey into eternal life. Harold was born to Henry and Helma Iverson on the family farm in Farmvale Township south of Tioga North Dakota on December 9, 1928. He was the 7th of eleven children.
Harold attended the Iverson School during his elementary years and graduated from Tioga High School in 1949. He served in the Army National Guard in 1951 and 1952. After serving our country in the military, he worked as a truck driver starting in North Dakota driving for Northern Tank Lines. He later transferred to their trucking terminal in Laurel Montana. He later worked of Cal-Gas, Cenex, and Consolidated Freightways as a truck driver.
Harold met the love of his life, Martha Senitte, in 1963 and they were married on September 21, 1964; spending the next 53 years together until his death. From that marriage, Harold inherited two step-children, Priscilla and Bob Senitte. Eventually he ended up with 10 Grandchildren, 17 Great-Grandchildren, and 3 Great Great-Grandchildren.
After his retirement in 1991, he and Martha enjoyed several years of traveling parts of the western United States. They particularly enjoyed the warm Arizona climate and eventually bought property in the Yuma area where they spent many warm winters together.
Harold enjoyed working in the yard and fixing things up around the house. He especially loved gardening and grew some of the best tomatoes in the neighborhood, which he generously shared with everyone he knew – even some he didn’t know if he could talk them into taking a few of his delicious tomatoes. He had a unique knack of being able to strike up a conversation with just about anyone and never met a person that was not a friend. He was a member of the Billings Elks Lodge and the Billings American Legion.
Harold is survived by his wife of 53 years, Martha, Step-son Bob (Patty) Senitte of Cody WY, sisters June Plantuis, Janet Broe, Myrtice Ecklund, brother Lester Iverson, 10 Grandchildren, 17 Great Grandchildren, 3 Great Great Grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Daughter Priscilla Kallem, Sisters Hazel Germundson, Inez Langager, Doris Sinness, and Brothers Alvin, Rudolph, and Kenneth Iverson. The family wishes to express a special thank you to Dr. Neal Sorenson for the many years of care he provided Harold; and also to the entire staff at The Crossings assisted living facility in Laurel for the loving care they provided to Harold up until the time of his death.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith West Chapel, 304 34th Street West, Billings MT at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 20, 2017. The family requests donations in Harold’s name to The Crossings assisted living facility at 600 Round House Road, Laurel, MT 59044 in lieu of flowers.
