Obituary for
David "Zoom" Zormeir
David “Zoom” Zormeir, formerly of Lewistown and Port Townsend, WA, passed away in the presence of loved ones December 16, 2015 at the age of 58. He is greatly missed and dearly remembered by many for his wry humor, out-going nature, and his love of others.
Dave was born May 4, 1957 to C.L. “Bud” and Joan (McKeever) Zormeir. He was raised along with his five siblings in Lewistown, where he learned to love hunting, fishing, sports and spending time out of doors. He was an excellent athlete, and enjoyed basketball and football throughout his years in school. After graduating from St. Leo’s High School, he spent most of his adult life in the construction field. He loved building, anything. The smell of saw dust was his favorite. Many of the homes and businesses in Lewistown have felt the touch of his creative abilities.
Dave was a single father that dearly loved his two sons. Raising James and Jon kept him motivated and grounded. They spent many wonderful years together, enjoying the life he had built for the three of them in Lewistown.
Early in 2005 Dave met his Sweetie, Janet (Grow) Kemp. She would complete him, and add peace, stability and patience to his life. Being able to share his dry, sarcastic humor, she proved to be the salt shaker to his pepper shaker, and on New Year’s Day a year later they were married in the Presbyterian Church in Lewistown. Each day that they were together there were hugs and kisses and always “I love You”. A lifestyle he would highly recommend to all.
Dave was preceded in death by two people that were true inspirations to him, his father Bud and his grandmother Mary “Mayme” Zormeir. They were his best friends, and it’s comforting to know that he is once again in their company.
He is survived by his loving wife Janet, his sons James of Berkeley CA and Jon of Billings, his stepchildren Mary (Michael) Gray and AJ Kemp, all of Billings. He leaves behind his mother Joan of Lewistown, his siblings Bob (Diane) and Bill (Bonnie) of Washington state, Mary Helm and Ann Blazer of Lewistown, and Jean (Kirby) Hellegaard of Billings, his grandchildren, “Lil’ Booger” Jocelynn Kemp, “Lil’ Squirt” Zachary Gray and his new granddaughter Sarah Gray, who has yet to be assigned her nickname by Grandpa. He also leaves behind many dear cousins, nieces and nephews, aunts and uncle, in-laws, foster children and many lifelong friends. For all of you he had an immense, enduring love, and you will always be able to find him in a sunset, by watching Monty Python or Benny Hill, or by listening to some really good music. He will be there loving you still. Dave reminds us all to laugh at the hard stuff, cry when you need to and as always, love each other.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. Roy Hall, his staff and all of the wonderful personnel of Rocky Mountain Hospice for their compassion and assistance throughout Dave’s illness.
Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Dave’s life will be scheduled, in the near future, at the Presbyterian Church in Lewistown. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Shriners Hospital www.shrinershospitalsforchildren.org., or any charity of your choice.
